Why we’re a fan of the absolute queen that is Michelle Visage

It’s not always easy being a celebrity. No matter what they do, they’re often criticised for it and sometimes they just can’t win. So, at Uspire we’ve decided to shine a light on some of our fave VIPs and remind you that many of them are down-to-earth and real, just like us.

In the fourth offering of our #PositivePeeps series, we want to give a massive shout out to the one and only Michelle Visage – RuPaul’s right hand woman, who first found fame as a singer back in the early nineties.

Michelle is glamorous, sassy and tells it exactly how it is and that’s why we love her. The 51-year-old star – who lives in California with her husband David Case and their two daughters Lillie and Lola – is also a well-known ally for the LGBTQ+ community, which puts her up in our estimations even more.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant is very vocal about the issues that the LGBTQ+ community face, and uses her platform to support them and raise awareness.

Most recently, Michelle offered to marry couples who were unable to have their typical big day due to the coronavirus pandemic. She told her 1.6 million followers: “It’s about to be Pride month and I can marry people, so if you would like me to preside over your wedding virtually, hit me up!”

Here we are. DO I DYE IT OR NOT?

Unlike a lot of celebs, Michelle is not afraid to show her fans the real her. During lockdown, her white roots have started coming through – but rather than stay quiet and shy away from selfies, Michelle has done the exact opposite. Another reason why we love her!

Instead of stressing about when she’ll next be able to visit a hair salon, Michelle has put her down time to good use and launched a new series on BBC3 called How’s Your Head, Hun?

The show follows Michelle during lockdown as she tries to live her life as best she can, including catching up with some of her celeb pals and attending her daughter’s virtual graduation ceremony. We can confirm, the show is a hilarious piece of light relief during this strange time! So thank you, Michelle!

We’ll leave you with some of Michelle’s best quotes, which are sure to give you a boost and feel fantastic as we head into the weekend…

♥ “Live life and enjoy it. That’s the real key to beauty!”

♥ “You don’t have to give up your dreams in order to earn a living – they can go hand in hand.”

♥ “To me, even what the glossies would consider a fashion disaster are still self expression.”

♥ “We must keep fighting until using the word ‘equality’ isn’t necessary because we will all be living as one.”
